I've been playing bass on stage for over 25 years. Since 2006 I've played with Vița de Vie, one of Romania's best-known rock bands. I've toured Europe twice with Steve Vai, played 3000+ concerts, and I've taught more than 1000 students online since 2013.
But I didn't start as a natural. I studied cello at the Conservatory, so I knew all the theory... and when I switched to bass, I failed audition after audition. I knew the notes on paper. I couldn't use them on the instrument.
What changed everything was learning a few fingerings, in the right order, until they ran on autopilot. Then my head was free to listen, to groove, to play with the band.
